The Rules of the Game

The Rules of the Game

A game that can mend and break relationships with difficult rules to follow. Over the years the rules of Uno have been a big controversial topic in many households. The rules of the game are very important when playing, so if you don’t know how to play don’t fret you’re going to be ok.

Stacking is allowed

Stacking is being allowed to put multiple cards down at the same time. The most common stacking that you will see in the game is when a player puts multiple draw cards down. Whether a player is putting down a draw 2 or a draw 4, it is allowed. When it comes to drawing cards, you are allowed to stack your draw card. So what will happen is if one player puts down a draw card the next person is also allowed to put down a draw card, and this will happen until one player doesn’t have any more draw cards to put down, so they will essentially pick up the deck of cards.

Counting up and down is allowed

If on the deck there is a card down with the number 5 on it, when it is a player’s turn they have the opportunity to either put down a 4 or 6 card. When it comes to counting up and counting down it doesn’t have to stop with just putting down one card. You can continue to count up and down until you run out of cards, but the rule is that the cards have to be able to count in order, so you can not 4 down on top of 6.

Slapping down a card that has the same number as the card on the deck is allowed

When playing Uno it is essential for you as a player to pay attention to the game as you play, because you might miss an essential part of the game that could help you get ahead and win the game. If on the deck there is a card down, let’s say the card on the deck is a number 4, any player has the opportunity to put down a 4 card, no matter the color, but the key to this rule is that if you are doing it you have to be fast. You can not slowly put down the card.

Knowing when to say Uno

When saying the word Uno, you have to be quick with it and you have to know when to say it or it could cost you to pick up some cards. When you only have one card in your hand you have to say Uno as fast as humanly possible, because if you don’t and another player says Uno before you that will cause you to pick up 2 more cards. This rule also works vise versa if you notice a player has one card in their hand and they don’t say Uno, the moment you say Uno the player is forced to pick up 2 cards.

Drawing cards from the pickup pile

A big misconception of the game is that some players don’t know that if they don’t have the color or number to match with the ones on deck and they have to pick a card from the pickup pile, they don’t know that you have to continuously keep picking up cards until you find a card that you can put on the deck. Many people think that you can just pick up 1 card and then get skipped but that would be wrong.

So now knowing the basic rules of the game, have fun out there playing, and win some games.
